Based on the content of my book, Optimize For Outcomes, this course is a deep dive into the methodologies and mental models I use when building and fixing systems.
Outcomes. It’s really all that matters. Everything we do, we do because we expect certain outcomes to come from what it is we’re doing.
You’re in business to make money, gain and maintain freedoms, and fulfill personal desires to help others. As entrepreneurs, you started with a mission to achieve one or more of these things. You set your sights and got to work.
Along the way, you realized there’s a lot of work involved in getting to those outcomes. There are always more things to do and more things that need your time. These things start out moving you closer to your desired outcomes, and you dive in head first to make sure what you’re doing is the right thing for you, your business, and your Customers.
As you continue to grind on your business, it’s easy to get caught up in an individual process, system, or tool you’ve created. You start building a website, but you forget those ultimate outcomes you are trying to reach and start building the best website you can, even though you don’t need it to reach your desired outcomes.
You start building that lead magnet, sales funnel, accounting system, or even product, and while it might be great at its intended purpose, it doesn’t help you reach your outcomes. You’re not making any more money. You’re not having any more time for yourself. You’re not fulfilling what you consider to be your personal mission. You’re just spinning your wheels, doing more and more work while getting less and less in return.
It’s a common problem that happens to all of us, myself included, but if you don’t do something different to break out of the cycle, you’ll continue spinning your wheels and dumping loads of time and money into your business and continue to struggle to grow or even maintain what you’ve already built.
This is where learning to Optimize for Outcomes will help you break out of this vicious cycle.
By thinking about your business in systems, you’ll start to see the problems more clearly. You’ll understand where you’re wasting time, energy, and money doing things that don’t really matter.
You’ll be able to streamline what it is you’re doing, allowing you to do more and grow your business without adding additional resources. You’ll be able to cut your costs and deliver services to your Customer faster and more efficiently than ever before.
By Optimizing for Outcomes, you will focus on the right things at the right times. You will be able to create repeatable processes that give you and your business more of what you need.
In this course, Optimize For Outcomes, I break down the mental models and processes I’ve used over 22 years helping businesses of all shapes and sizes get more effective, efficient, and productive at what they do. I have used these mental models to help companies earn hundreds of millions of dollars and decrease costs by tens of millions.
I’ve spent the last two years working with entrepreneurs and small businesses, ensuring that these same mental models and processes can work for you and your business, no matter what its current size is. Even as a solo entrepreneur, you stand to benefit greatly by Optimizing for Outcomes in your business.
The course will give you an overview of systems thinking that will help you understand some key principles and a different way to think about the things you are doing in your business. You’ll start thinking about what you do in your business as discrete systems that will lay the foundation for the rest of the course.
From there you’ll learn to define outcomes for your business as well as each of your systems. You’ll align the desired outcomes to ensure they are contributing to you achieving your ultimate outcomes.
I’ll show you how to identify where you’re having the most trouble in your business today, and give you some tools that you can use to help guide you through the process.
Next, you’ll learn how to approach making improvements to the way your business systems function to give you more of what you want and less of what you don’t want.
I’ll walk you through managing change in your business, which is critical to making sure any changes you do make stick around and become new habits.
I’ll finish up teaching you about a few extra tools including the 5 Whys mental model and how to properly use swimlane diagrams to map out your business.
If you ever get stuck on this course, you’ll have my direct email at your disposal to ask any questions that you have so that you can implement the things you learn in this course and get value for you and your business.
